We had too much stuff in  the home page ,so we decided to clean it up and send the old home pages here

We had audio problem for the entire flight , so do not play with your computer is our fault.

The video equipment is a 600mw transmitter/receiver set purchased from www.BlackWidowAV.com .  It has very low voltage requirements which makes it very easy to power.  By properly selecting a transmitter and receiver antenna we can fly more than 4.6 miles  (for now) straight up! We set it and forget it !

These record attempts  are dedicated at Sean Bartlett (left on the picture) that was one of the best pilot that I ever meet  in my life. He was a natural talent , his training session was two flights. He died at fifteen in a car accident , when with his brother were going to pick up  a friend  ,to have a fun day  at the field. Sometime we think that maybe isn’t only  the technology that keep our plane fly so high , probably we had some other help.

F5-S Electric  radio controlled model record broken!!

Saturday October 2,2004 we reached 3,418 Meters(11,214 feet) and broke the previous FAI altitude record of 2,570 Sub-class F5-S (Aeroplane, electric motor (rechargeable sources of current)) N°173: Gain in altitude : 2'573 m Date of flight: 09/11/2003 Pilot: Raymond COOPER (Australia)  Course/place: Boralma (Australia)

Here the link to Model Aviation article  where the President tells about his meeting with FAA officers. I strongly disagree with  this way to solve the problem but  here you can read about it http://www.modelaircraft.org/mag/0804/president.htm

Another  world record broken!! Claim number : 11487 Sub-class F5-COMB (Aeroplane, electric motor (all sources of current)) F5: Radio Controlled Flight Category

Type of record : N°193: Distance in a straight line  Course/location : Jacksonville, FL (USA) Performance : 226.61  km Pilot : Giorgio AZZALIN (USA) Date: 24.04.2005

This record attempt is number 193 as reference by FAI part seven, distance in a straight line for electric motor  with a combination of rechargeable and non rechargeable batteries.

The flight started with the model taking off hand launched by Simone Azzalin, the pilot was Giorgio Azzalin for the entire flight. Once the model was airborne it reached the altitude of 3/400 feet. The group of Pilot, CD and two observers seated on the convertible car and drove south on I 95  to Satellite Beach  Florida.

The model flew between 200 and 400 feet of altitude on the right side and staying off of the Interstate road. The weather was very clear and cold  for the average Florida temperature for this season, a 15/ 20 miles west-north –west  wind interfered with the plane for the entire flight .

The ground speed was around 80 Km/h with maximum speed of 105 Km/h and a minimum speed of 65 Km/h.

When we reached the exit 191 on I 95 South Satellite Beach  FL we  drove approximately 1 KM West  to the  designated landing point.

The engine was running for the entire flight, spinning the 14X12 propeller and using  6.5 Amph

After 2 hours and 59 minutes the model  safety landed on a grass strip on the left side of the road

The model is built with simple balsa and plywood, Monokote covered, no special material or glue was used.

The electric engine Actro CL 8 was running for the entire time using between 5 to 8 Amperes per Hour  at  a voltage between 15.8 to 14.4. volts.

To  comply  with the combination of power source ,  I used lithium rechargeable batteries  and lithium NON rechargeable . The NON rechargeable section of the batteries were dedicated to supply the necessary power to the receiver and the telemetry system data recorder and transmitter

The receiver is a Futaba 8 channels PCM , the servos are a medium and mini size,  Hitec

Eagletree wireless telemetry is installed in the model airplane that was sending real time data to the ground to the pilot. These data are the Amps engine consumption, battery pack volts, receiver volts, altitude and speed.
